Joy Huyck

Director and Co-founder
I earned a BA in Christian Education from Columbia International University and studied Spanish abroad in Flamingo, Costa Rica and Bogotá, Colombia. Being bilingual has provided so many great opportunities to meet new people and serve the community. Early childhood education and learning about other cultures are my passions. I have worked with children of all ages for over 20 years, including 18 years in administration. In my free time, I enjoy participating in activities with the church, getting out in nature and taking trips with friends and family.

Luz Giraldo

Co-founder

I’m a fully bilingual native from Colombia and have a Bachelor’s Degree in System Engineering with a Minor in Business and Information Technology, also a Master’s Degree in Management of Information Systems from University ICESI.

As an immigrant, I believe it is my duty to help create bridges between cultures and plant a seed in children about the importance loving their neighbor. Children don’t have any bigotry or prejudice in them, they are the future of this society and we have to educate them in empathy and give them the tools to make a positive impact on the world.

Rocio Núñez

Social Communications Coordinator

Hello, my name is Rocio, but everybody calls me Chío. I’m from Tijuana, México and arrived to South Carolina in 2018. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Communications by the Autonomous University of Baja California. Before coming to SC, my professional life was in Political Communications. I worked for 6 years in Federal and Local government institutions. Now, I have found a new rewarding path working for a Nonprofit.

I moved here because I got married to the love of my life and in our spare time we like to hang out with family and friends and consume all kinds of cinema. Running and eating any type of snacks are my favorite activities (balance y’all!).

I’m very passionate about “changing the world” and when I encountered My Amigos, I knew it was not a coincidence. I encourage you to see it for yourself and come visit!
